Welcome to the 2024-25 school year at Cheyenne Mountain School District 12!
As the Superintendent of this exceptional District, it gives me great pleasure to extend my heartfelt greetings and warmest wishes to all of you. I hope this letter finds you well and eagerly looking forward to a new school year full of growth, learning, and accomplishments.
This year, we are committed to focusing on three essential District priorities that will guide our efforts towards even greater excellence:
Teaching and Learning: At Cheyenne Mountain, we believe every child deserves an exceptional education that empowers them with the knowledge and skills to succeed in an ever-changing world. To achieve this, we will continue to invest in our teachers' professional development, foster innovative teaching methodologies, and provide our students with a comprehensive and enriched curriculum. We aim to create an environment that promotes curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration, ensuring our students become lifelong learners and leaders. By staying abreast of educational advancements and incorporating the latest technology and research into our teaching practices, we nurture well-rounded individuals prepared for future challenges and opportunities.
Student and Staff Wellbeing: The wellbeing of our students and staff is of utmost importance to us. "Wellbeing" encompasses more than just mental health concerns; it includes physical, emotional, and social aspects that contribute to a person's overall state of being. This year, we will continue to refine our wellbeing programs and resources, promoting emotional resilience, physical health, and social connectedness. We are dedicated to providing a nurturing environment where everyone can thrive. By fostering positive and inclusive school climates, we hope to cultivate a sense of belonging within our school communities. Our initiatives will include access to counseling services and programs aimed at reducing stress and enhancing overall wellbeing. We believe a healthy and supportive environment is fundamental to academic success and personal growth, and we are committed to ensuring everyone in our district has the resources they need to flourish.
Safety and Security: Creating a safe and secure learning environment is a top priority at Cheyenne Mountain School District 12. We are dedicated to implementing the best practices in school safety, including regular drills, updated security measures, and ongoing collaboration with law enforcement and other first responder agencies. Our goal is to ensure that students and staff feel secure and know how to respond in an emergency, allowing them to focus on teaching and learning without distraction. This year, we will enhance our security infrastructure and provide training sessions for staff and students. We are committed to maintaining a vigilant and proactive approach to school safety, ensuring our district remains a place where everyone can learn and work with peace of mind.
We understand that the success of our District is a collective effort. It is the result of the partnership between our hardworking students, dedicated educators, and supportive families. Together, we will overcome challenges, celebrate achievements, and continue to foster a culture of excellence that defines Cheyenne Mountain. We believe that our collaborative spirit is what sets us apart and drives our continued success.
I encourage your active engagement in our educational journey and invite you to attend school events involving academics, the arts, and athletics. You might also consider volunteering in classrooms or participating in our parent-teacher organizations to further enrich our learning community. Your involvement is crucial to creating a vibrant and dynamic school environment where every student can succeed.
As we all embark on this new school year, I have no doubt that we will continue to inspire greatness in our students and leave an indelible mark on their lives. Thank you for being such an integral part of our Cheyenne Mountain family. I wish everyone a successful and rewarding school year!
My best,
David
Dr. David J. Peak, Superintendent
