The library is presently comprised of over 11, 000 books which range from preschool through Young Adult. Additionally other areas including a parent/teacher shelf and reference area (with encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauruses, atlases, and almanacs). Both our catalog and circulation systems are fully automated. We have three look-up stations in the library, however the catalog is internet-based and available on all computers in the building. We have a "Story Kiva" which can be utilized for many programs including author visits, storytelling, guest speakers and class instruction. The Media Center is open 8 AM to 3:15 PM.

Technology

Our computer lab consists of 28 new iMacs and 2 eMacs plus a laser printer with multimedia and internet capabilities. Some programs the K-6th grade students access are the World Book Encyclopedia, Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel,& Powerpoint), Kid Pix 4, Type to Learn, Graph Club, Kid & Inspiration, plus many excellent educational websites such as Internet 4 Classrooms and Enchanted Learning. We also own several digital cameras and multiple DV camcorders. All computers in the building can access the Accelerated Reader Program. Nearly all classrooms have at least 3 classroom computers. We also have a laptop lab with 10 computers. This is moved around to different classrooms as needed.

Accelerated Reader is when students read a book (which can be from our library, the public library, home or the classroom) and then take a comprehension quiz on the book. Our books are labeled with the reading level and points. The classroom teacher will set a point goal for the student depending on their reading ability. Points are determined by the length and difficulty of a book. The AR program keeps track of each student individually. We have over 130,000 quizzes available to the students. Many award-winning and popular book titles are AR quizzes and many different reading level and genres are covered.

Morning News Program

6th graders audition to run our morning news program. This is a live studio broadcast that announce the date, lunch menu, specials schedule day, and school announcements. All classes may send students to tell about special projects they are doing in their classrooms.

Book Fairs

We have 2 Book Fairs each year. One is usually around Halloween and the other is in late February.
